The mantecado is a typical Spanish confectionery sweet, characterised by being kneaded with lard and eaten at any time of the year, especially at Christmas.
Many people argue about their origin, which is Andalusian, with some attributing them to Estepa and others to Antequera. Famous throughout Spain, places such as Toledo stand out for their large productions.
We make them in Jijona, the birthplace of turrón and polvorones, and we make them by hand.
